Can I see God?

21 May

Can I see God?

Before you ask me, “Why can’t I see God, if He is really there?”

I will ask you, “Can you see ‘ALL’ the creations of God?”

Can you see the air? But you still believe there is air right?
You can’t even see the ‘cells’ from which you are made up of.
Can you see your brain? But you still believe you have brain right?

erm..okey may be you scan yourself and show me you have brain, but what about the generations which passed without these scanning facilities?
Did they admit they don’t have brain?

Can you see the sun blazing in the mid noon? You need coolers, sunscreens, umbrellas to help yourself from it.

After all a creation of God is so powerful like it makes blind.

       WHAT ABOUT IT’S CREATOR??

HOW MUCH POWERFULL WILL BE THE ONE WHO CREATED ‘THE SUN’?
HOW MUCH KNOWLEDGEABLE WILL BE THE ONE WHO CREATED ‘THE CELL’?

Just because you don’t see it, that doesn’t mean its not there!

I will tell you the story of Prophet Moses (Peace be upon him) who wished to see God.

Moses (Peace be upon him) was in deep love with God and he wanted to see Him without a veil. Remember, he was the one to whom God spoke directly.
Now lets see what God says,

“And when Moses arrived at Our appointed time and his Lord spoke to him, he said, “My Lord, show me [Yourself] that I may look at You.” [Allah] said, “You will not see Me, but look at the mountain; if it should remain in place, then you will see Me.” But when his Lord appeared to the mountain, He made it collapse to dust, and Moses fell unconscious. And when he awoke, he said, “Exalted are You! I have repented to You, and I am the first of the believers.”” [AlQur’aan Chapter ‘The Height’ 7:143]

Look the mountain burst to pieces. Imagine the big giant mountain couldnt bear it’s Lord, WHAT ABOUT WE?
And thats why Moses (Peace be upon Him) fell unconscious.

And remember our Lord said to him, “You can never see Me!”

A man to whom God spoke directly can never see Him, what about we??
Do we have more strength than the mountain which collapsed??

Ofcourse not, so shut your mind YOU CAN NEVER SEE HIM!

And to those who claim they see God daily, like their neighbour…surely they are seeing something but that’s not their (our) God. Then what is that? You need to wait a few more weeks to know it!!

See, WE CAN NEVER SEE GOD, then what makes you to picturize Him. HOW DARE YOU DO IT?

But don’t worry, it is only this world.

Those who believe in Him, and do righteous deeds in the way He mentioned will surely see Him in the Day of Judgement and in Paradise.

Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) said, “The Day Of Resurrection is the first day any eye will look at Allah, the All-Great and All-Glorious” [Collected by Daraqutni & Darimi]

Sahih AlBukhari, Characteristics of Prayer 12: 770

Narrated Abu Huraira: The people said, “O Allah’s Messenger! Shall we see our Lord on the Day of Resurrection?” He replied, “Do you have any doubt in seeing the full moon on a clear (not cloudy) night?” They replied, “No, O Allah’s Prophet!” He said, “Do you have any doubt in seeing the sun when there are no clouds?” They replied in the negative. He said, “You will see Allah (your Lord) in the same way.”

“[Some] faces, that Day, will be shining and radiant. Looking at their Lord. [AlQur’aan Chapter ‘The Resurrection’ 75:22-23′]

So definitely we can see our Lord in the Hereafter,
The One whom we worship daily in our life,
The One whom makes us breathe till this second,
The One who shows mercy even to those who deny Him.

IF WE WORSHIP HIM IN THE WAY HE SAID US TO.

Wisdom behind not seeing God in this life:

I admit I can’t see God in this life, but why?

There will be a reason behind each and every act of God, right?

So definitely there will be a reason behind not seeing God too!

It’s not a mystery, we will get once we think about it.

Imagine, if God is visible to us will anyone deny His presence?

Ofcourse not, and all of the human beings will be believers!!

If God wishes to make all of us as believers, definitely He can.
There are 10s of verses in the Qur’aan stating that, “If God willed, He would have made you one nation”.

Few examples,

“And had your Lord willed, those on earth would have believed – all of them entirely.” [AlQur’aan Chapter ‘Jonah’ 10:99]

“Had Allah willed, He would have made you one nation [united in religion], but [He intended] to test you in what He has given you; so raise to [all that is] good. To Allah is your return all together, and He will [then] inform you concerning that over which you used to differ.” [AlQur’aan Chapter ‘The table spread with food’ 5:48]

“He has created the death and life, so that He may test you which of you are best in deed. And He is the All-Mighty, the Oft-Forgiving” [AlQur’aan Chapter ‘The Dominion’ 67:2]

These verses are quite self explanatory, if God willed He would have made us all worship Him.
But what He willed is to stay invisible and test who among us is going to worship Him and do righteous deeds.

We are in no way questioning Him! Whatever He wills, we just obey Him!

But readers!
Even though He is invisible, He gaves us all means to know Him. He sent us numeroussss Prophets.
     He sent us His words.
He gave us brain, wisdom, knowledge, reason to know that He is there now and always.

Now it is upto us, to decide whether we should believe in God or not!
It is upto us to decide whether we should enter His Paradise or not!

Points to Note:

1. I cannot see God.
2. If I cannot see God, then I can never picturize Him too.
3. But I can see Him in the hereafter, if I worship Him in the way He wants me to be.
4. If God had willed, we all would worship Him.
5. But He willed, only to test who among us are best in deeds.

‘Image’ of God in Islaam!

15 May

‘Image’ of God according to Islam:

We discussed the images of God according to various religious scriptures. You might think, “Okay, where is Islam there?”
You need to wait no longer to know the answer!

We saw some scriptures saying “God has no image at all” and we might realize those people worship “infinite number of images”.
As Islam is the ‘middle way’. It takes a middle approach in this too.

God has an image THAT IS SUITABLE TO HIS MAJESTY.
There are numerous verses in His Last Book saying that He has hand, eyes, shin etc etc.
Lemme quote a few,

Say: “All the bounty is in the Hand of Allah; He grants to whom He wills. And Allah is All-Sufficient for His creatures’ needs, the All-Knower.” [AlQur’an Chapter ‘The Family of Imran’ 3:73]

Say: “O Allah! Possessor of the kingdom, You give the kingdom to whom You will, and You take the kingdom from whom You will, and You endue with honour whom You will, and You humiliate whom You will. In Your Hand is the good. Verily, You are Able to do all things.” [AlQur’an Chapter ‘The Family of Imran’ 3:26]

“And construct the ship under Our Eyes and with Our Inspiration, and address Me not on behalf of those who did wrong; they are surely to be drowned.”  [AlQur’an Hud 11:37]

“Some faces that Day shall be shining and radiant. Looking at their Lord.”  [AlQur’aan Chapter ‘The Resurrection’ 75:22,23]

God unveiling His shin to the believers+hypocrites in the Day of Judgement,

“(Remember) the Day when the Shin shall be uncovered (i.e. the Day of Resurrection) and they shall be called to prostrate (to Allah), but they (hypocrites) shall not be able to do so,” [AlQur’aan Chapter ‘The Pen’ 68:42]

In Sahih AlBukhari  (Book #93, Hadith #510),
Narrated ‘Abdullah: “A Jew came to the Prophet and said, “O Muhammad! Allah will hold the heavens on a finger, and the mountains on a finger, and the trees on a finger, and all the creation on a finger, and then He will say, ‘I am the King.’ “ On that Allah’s Prophet smiled till his premolar teeth became visible, and then recited:–
“They have not appraised Allah with true appraisal, while the earth entirely will be [within] His grip on the Day of Resurrection, and the heavens will be folded in His right hand. Exalted is He and high above what they associate with Him.” [AlQur’aan Chapter ‘The Groups’ 39:67]
‘Abdullah added: “Allah’s Messenger smiled (at the Jew’s statement) expressing his wonder and believe in what was said.”

Allah’s laugh (Book #73, Hadith #245) and Allah’s foot (Book #60, Hadith #371) are also mentioned in Sahih AlBukhari.

Being said that, I would strongly mention that THIS WOULD NEVER GIVE US PERMISSION TO MAKE IMAGES OF GOD!

Why?
Because God has said,

There is nothing like a likeness of Him, and He is the All-Hearer, the All-Seer.”  [AlQur’aan Chapter ‘Consultation’ 42:11]

See, THE IMAGE OF GOD HAS NO LIKENESS TO HIS CREATIONS.

This is not something hard to understand. Just because we and our God has an image that doesn’t mean both should look the same!
Like, we have a leg and a donkey has a leg. Both are called ‘leg’, BUT THEY DON’T RESEMBLE THE SAME!

Whatever we make as God will have a likeness to what we have seen. We cannot make something which we don’t see.
Whatever we make will have a similitude in the creations of this world. For example: A unicorn is a mixture of animals (lion tail, goat’s beard, deer’s feet, horse body, twisted horn etc).
See, we make fantasy with all those animals.

HOW CAN WE DO THIS TO GOD, THE ONE WHO CREATED ALL THESE THINGS?

Just Remember, whatever we imagine as God, IS EXACTLY WHAT HE ISN’T!
Because, THERE IS NOTHING LIKE HIM 🙂

So based on the above quotes, we AFFIRM, God has an image THAT SUITS HIS MAJESTY.
And also we DENY, we shouldn’t make any images of the God which we haven’t seen?

WAIT A MINUTE: CAN GOD BE SEEN?

Aha! Scratch your head until tomorrow! 😀

Replies to ‘Idolators’!

Replies to Idolators:
As we saw earlier, idol worshiping is not favored by most of the religions. After all they are condemning it. But wherever you go, you see people worshiping created things (idols) as if they are worshiping the GOD.

The most common excuse they have is, “It’s hard to worship the unseen God.

“So, this allows you to worship something other than God?”
“Why is it hard for you when it is not hard for ‘billions’ of people?”

Another thing they say is, “God is present everywhere. Everything is God. We worship God through His creations”.

“Whoa! Worshipping God through His creations? Why do you need this ‘through’? It doesn’t seem logical?
Why can’t you worship God directly?
And again as I have said earlier in the post ‘Is Everything God?’ we can conclude “Everything is God’s” and everything is NOT God.

Anyways, worshiping the Creations doesn’t mean you worship the Creator. It simply means, ‘You worship the Creations‘!”. [And you know that’s wrong]

Again they say, “No no, it’s not the stone we worship. Its God present inside the stone”.

“This is another version of the previous question. God can never be inside a stone which is one of His creations”

“You see, we don’t worship all stones, only special kind of stones. Also gold, silver, brass”.

“You are in a very dangerous position you know. You are more special than a gold or a silver or a brass, aren’t you? So we worship YOU?

What is the authenticity of your practices? If we read your scriptures we find exactly the opposite. So where do you get these things from? From some stupid man or from God?”

“Ok fine, idol worship has no basis in our religion, its wrong. But.. common people can’t worship God without an image. It helps to focus our concentration. When we get trained we don’t need that image. Like in school, in 1st grade you have an idol but when you finish your final grade you don’t need an idol”.

“That’s good atleast you realize its wrong.

Just because a layman cannot worship God without an image, is it ok for him to worship something other than God?

To focus our concentration, there are numerous things we can do, but an idol can never help you. Infact it leads to destruction.

How many people know what they are worshipping is not God?
How many people know they have been cheated n cheated for centuries saying that this is their God?

And coming back to the school :D,
You will not teach your child something wrong in 1st grade and then say he will be corrected later. Would you teach him 2+2=3 in 1st grade and then say its 4 in his final class? Ofcourse not!

Then why would you do this to God, the very most important thing in life?
How many people really reach that final stage?
They die in that evil state worshipping a stone, believing it to be the God for all their life. Its sorrowful.”

{Idol worship, the nearest analogy I can provide you is like calling someone else as one’s father, while his real father is another person. Rejection of one’s father and attributing this very honorable position to another person is a very disgraceful, abominable and disgusting thing any human being will think of doing.

The only one true God is the Creator, Sustainer, Cherisher and Provider. It is He only deserves our worship.

If we make idols of human beings, animals and other created objects, for the purpose of worship, my simple question is, do we earn the Blessings or the Wrath of God?

This is the unpardonable sin any human being can commit. The seriousness of this sin will not equal the analogy provided above.} [1]

Lets get rid of such sins, stop0think!

Image(s) of ‘GOD’ from Sikhism, Buddhism and Zoroastrianism!

2 May

Image(s) of ‘GOD’ from Sikhism, Buddhism and Zoroastrianism:

Okay, now that we know according to Hinduism and Jewism/Christianity one should not picturize God ‘as they do it now’. Today we will discuss what Sikhism, Buddhism and Zoroastrianism says about it!

Sikhism:

The Guru Granth Sahib, the central scripture and Guru of Sikhs, strongly rejects idolatry. Idolatry is also rejected by the Dasam Granth a scripture by the tenth Guru, Guru Gobind Singh, and within numerous rehatnamas (documents codifying the code of conduct of the Sikh religion), such as the Sikh Rehat Maryada and the Budha Dal Rehatnama.

Sikhism criticises the practice of using idols to represent God and pray to him.

BUT NOW!!

Human figures of religious significance, such as the Sikh gurus, are common in ‘modern’ Sikhism, and the Sikh attitude to non-religious images is generally relaxed.

Mouth Shut (??!!)

Buddhism:

  • The historical Buddha (Siddhartha Gautama or Shakyamuni) neither regarded himself nor wished to be regarded as a God.

  • In any of the ‘Sacred’ texts of Buddhism we do not find any evidence or statement approving or promoting of idol worship by Buddha.

  • On the contrary, Buddha has opposed making of idols, when Ananda, a close relative, the most devoted attendant and a leading monk sought permission to make an idol of Buddha.

  • The practice of idol worship in present day Buddhism is an innovation, defying the teachings of Buddha.

Christmas Humpreys, author of the book ‘Buddhism’, says of himself that he studied Buddhism for thirty years and of Buddhism in the world today he knows more than most and he has this to say about the Buddhist Scriptures:

“The Buddha himself wrote nothing, and none of his teaching was written down for at least four hundred years after his death. We, therefore do not know what the Buddha taught, any more than we know what Jesus taught; and today at least four schools, with sub-division in each, proclaim their own view as to what is Buddhism”.

The disappearance of original teachings and practices of Buddha are almost complete today, for the Buddhists are sunk in superstitions, idol worship and Hindu religious rituals. Original Buddhism has changed colors completely.

  • H.G. Wells (An Outline of History Page 392) has described this in a very terse language. “Gautama’s disciples have cared more for the preservation of his tree than of his thought, which from the first they distorted and misconceived (the Bodh tree which helped him to rest his back, while achieved ‘enlightenment’, still exists and with a sapling from the original tree planted in Sri Lanka, the Sri Maha Bodi in Anuradapura , venerated and worshipped excessively)”.

Writing on the corruption of Buddhism, Mr. Wells makes the following interesting observations:

“Tibet today is a Buddhist country, yet Gautama could he return to earth, might go from end to end of Tibet seeking his own teaching in vain.

About this Buddhist countryside he would discover a number of curious little mechanisms, little wind-wheels and water-wheels spinning, on which brief prayers were inscribed. Every time these things spin, he would learn, it counts as a prayer. ‘To whom?’, he would ask.

The most striking and undisputable statement about the authenticity of the Buddhist scriptures is by Chief Monk Akuratiye Amarawansa, Chancellor of the Vidyodaya Buddhist University (Pirivena), Maligakanda, Colombo; Scholar of the Tripitaka and Chief Monk of Southern Sri Lanka. In his preface to the Sinhala translation of Deega Nikaya, he has expressed the following:

  • “The Deega Nikaya that we see today cannot be assuredly said to be the same one that was presented to the first reform council (Dharma Sangayana). Many reform councils were held subsequently and these Nikayas and divisions would have been subjected to many changes. Therefore, the most acceptable view would be that the present Deega Nikaya is a collection of sutras subjected to changes, additions and deletions taken place after the first reform council.”

So if you find anything to be in favour of ‘idol worship’ in Buddhism.. simply remind yourself of ‘Cheif Monk’ Akuratiye’s Statement.

Zoroastrianism:

Idol worship is prohibited in Zoroastrianism’s Sacred Scriptures too!

Chapter 68.

1. I also saw the souls of a man and a woman (2) whom they ever DRAG, the man to heaven and the woman to HELL. (3) And the woman’s hand was caught in the knot and sacred thread [kusti] of the man, (4) and she said thus: ‘How is it when we had every benefit in union, among the living, (5) now they are dragging thee to heaven, and me to HELL?’

6. And the man said thus: ‘Because whatever things I received of the good and worthy, I also gave them back to the poor; (7) and I practised good thoughts and good words and good deeds; (8) I also heeded God, and disregarded the demons; (9) and I have been steadfast in the good religion.

10. But you despised the good and poor and worthy and travellers; (11) you also disregarded God, and YOU WORSHIPPED IDOLS; (12) and practised evil thoughts and evil words and evil deeds; (13) and you have been steadfast in the religion of ahriman and the demons.’

– THE BOOK OF ARDA VIRAF, a holy book of Zoroastrianism..

  • Idol Worship is considered as a transgression of Zoroastrian commandment. For Scriptural verification, please refer to Patet Pashemani Manthra, Kardeh 10 word 21 (ozdist parasti).

I am asking you O! My dear Zoroastrians..

What do you think about ‘fire’? Is it not an idol? I mean do you think an idol is only made up of clay or a stone?

You say you worship your God through fire.. exactly this is what idol worshippers say.. WE WORSHIP OUR GOD THROUGH THIS ..!!

THINK!
